It's perfect for a weekend getaway where you'd rather not have to worry about cooking for yourself, because there is a wealth of cafes, restaurants and pubs within walking distance. The cottage is arranged over three floors, with the sitting room at ground level as you come in through the front door. A set of stairs goes down to the kitchen and bathroom (with a shower over the bath), while another goes up to the cosy bedroom. The modern kitchen is equipped with everything you might need if you do want to cook, and there is a washing machine and a microwave. The cottage has central heating, WIFI and you can sign into your Netflix account on the smart TV.

Nailsworth is a lovely market town which has a well deserved reputation as a foodie haven. Just a few minutes walk from the cottage are numerous restaurants, bistros and cafes, including Giuseppe's, William's Kitchen (also a fabulous deli), Wild Garlic, The Olive Tree, Nailsworth Balti, Amalfi, Waterloo House and Egypt Mill. There are also two pubs, one of which, The Britannia, serves good quality pub food. There are several great cafes, including the Canteen. A visit to Hobbs House Bakery is also essential - run by TV's 'Fabulous Baker Boys' and selling mouthwatering bread, cakes, pastries and biscuits.
Nailsworth nestles in one of five valleys leading into Stroud, and there are plenty of good walks, either directly from the door to Ruskin Mill or the Horsley Valley, or a short drive away there is Woodchester Valley (nestled in the heart of which is an unfinished Gothic revival mansion) and the Commons of Minchinhampton, Rodborough and Selsley (all National Trust). There is a local vineyard, Woodchester Valley Vineyard, where tours and tastings can be arranged.

There are health food shops, clothes shops, art galleries and a rather special confectionary shop called Coco, where the walls are lined with old-fashioned sweets in jars, and you can buy a range of luxury chocolates. If you need supplies, there are three supermarkets (Morrisons, a small Co-op and a Tesco Express, open 6am-11pm seven days a week). Nailsworth is on the A46, so just 45 minutes from Bath, and there are numerous places to visit nearby, from towns like Stroud, Tetbury and Cirencester, to picturesque Cotswold villages like Painswick. The well-known Cotswold centres of Chipping Camden, Stow on the Wold, Moreton in Marsh and Bourton on the Water are within an hour's drive.
